I quite enjoyed the movie. I don't listen to critics who review movies either positively or negatively, I like to form my own opinion. Loved the acting, the scenery and as a non indigenous Australian, I felt the stolen generation storyline was very well handled and important to show as part of Austalia's history at the time.
this is one of the best movies ive ever seen. i went and saw it with my school last wednesday and me and my 2 best friends cried in the last part of the movie non stop and we were all holding hands sayin how great this movie was. i would definatley see it again. best movie in a long time
omg, it was seriously awesome. The story, the acting, the scenery...i can't find a fault. Baz has done it again
Absolutely breathtaking. Please bring it to dvd with subtitles so people like myself can hear what all the laughter was about. I am hearing impaired and therefore am very conscious of actors believability...All were briliant...thanks Baz
Australia packaged for American consumption. Baz was unflinching in dishing out our cultural and historical truths, even if we were busy cringeing from it, and if I were him I would be very proud of myself. Nic did a great job as a comedic actress playing a snobby pom thawed out somewhat by the environment and the drover. Great jobs by Hugh and Brandon... 3 hours would put plenty of people off of seeing it but it was not painfully drawn out... maybe too many redirections back to the Wizard of Oz... we got it. The magic of Australia as seen through a child's eyes.
Brilliant, amasing movie - the scenety, acting, story line and Nullah - he was awesome. A very emotional movie, has touched me, will be in my book of greats. I am at a loss to understand why the US critics did not enjoy the movie. And why the general US population are staying away? 'They know not what they miss'. Well done Baz, Nicole, Hugh and of course Brendan and all the others. I am going again.
I loved the movie, I will see it again.Hugh was great, and so were all the other aussie actors, the scenery was beautiful, as of course it is. was a bit sad to see David as a bad guy but nevermind, he still got in his funny little comments..... Even Nicole whom I do not usually like was good........I could see why the yanks would not like it as they can not understand us.
I loved this movie although Nicole is probably miscast. Won't work in USA as quite culturally specific. Americans haven't or won't admit their own failed and brutal attempts at assimilation of the American Indians so will not understand or accept that part of the story line. Was disappointed there wasn't more focus on the bombing of Darwin as that had been part of the hype. Worth going to just to see Hugh Jackman wet... Sigh...
I rated it as a 6 out of 10. I thought the cinematography was excellent. However, I thought Hugh Jackman wore too much make up at times and his acting was not at all good in parts. Kidmans acting was great. I was not bored, but was disappointed in some parts. Overall not a bad movie, but not something I would not want to see again. Shawshank rates as still the best movie I have seen.
Fantastic....
