Jack Black takes aim at Leo DiCaprio’s Oscar win
March 17, 2016: Hollywood funnyman Jack Black speaks to TheFIX's Jeremy Helligar about playing Po in Kung Fu Panda 3 and offer his theory why Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar for his performance in The Revenant.

This past Oscar season when everyone was rooting for Leonardo DiCaprio to finally win the gold for The Revenant, one big star was hanging out on an entirely different bandwagon.

During an interview with TheFIX, Jack Black revealed that he was actually pulling for Trumbo's Bryan Cranston to take Best Actor.

"Bryan Cranston is a better actor," Jack, 46, told us. "You heard it here. Bryan Cranston is better-acting than Leo DiCap."

Well, it's not like Jack and Bryan don't share a bit of history. Both of their voices appear in the new sequel Kung Fu Panda 3, in which Bryan makes his debut in the animated series as the voice of Po's dad, Li.

In addition to Bryan, Jack logs screen time with three Oscar winners in Kung Fu Panda 3 (Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie and J.K. Simmons). But this being an animated film, he didn't actually act with any of them…and that suited him just fine.

"The advantage of not having any other actors there is it's all about you," he said of life in the sound booth. "You don't have to worry about stepping on other people's lines or waiting for them to get their 'perfect take'."

Clearly Jack doesn't feel the need to kiss up to Oscar winners...or the Oscars. He had an extended go at Leo during our chat, and he also talked about Chris Rock's Jack Black-inspired "Black History Minute" gag at this year's ceremony.

We think Jack would kick ass as next year's host. Let's start that petition now.

Kung Fu Panda opens in Australia on March 24.
