American mountain climber Aron Ralston was pinned to a canyon wall by a falling boulder, trapped for five days and cut his own arm off to survive — but he has no regrets and "wouldn't change anything about it".

Ralston's remarkable escape is the subject of the Oscar-nominated movie 127 Hours, starring James Franco and directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire). In town to promote the release of the film, Ralston sat down with TheFIX's Kylie Speer at Sydney's Summit restaurant and described in graphic detail the moment he cut off his right arm and how his ordeal changed his life.

"I had died in that place already, to get out of there, to be free, to be able to move again... it was the greatest joy I'd ever experienced at that point in my life," he said.
