Home and Away is moving from Sydney's beaches to metropolitan Melbourne for shooting this week.

Airing later this year, the Melbourne episodes will focus on the River Boys, Brax (Stephen Peacocke) and Heath (Dan Ewing) visiting the city, with scenes set to a backdrop of famous Melbourne landmarks such as Federation Square, Flinders Street Station and the Yarra River.

"We are excited to bring Home and Away to Melbourne again," said series producer Lucy Addario.

"We have a great Melbourne story that needs to be told and we look forward to working with local cast and crew."

The episodes will be only the second time that scenes have been set outside of Summer Bay in the series' 25-year run.
