Guy Sebastian has broken his silence on The Voice, revealing he was "really shocked" when it performed as well as it did.
Guy, who won the first season of Australian Idol and whose brother was an artist on The Voice, expected singing show fatigue to set in before the ratings juggernaut's debut.
"It's not that different. It's got the turnaround chairs thing, in essence it's just another singing show," Guy told The Daily Telegraph.
"I think [its success] really shocked everyone but I think it's a positive thing because it shows the public are still behind good talent."
As a judge and mentor on "another singing show", Guy’s probably hoping that the public's hunger for good talent hasn't been completely satisfied.
The new season of The X Factor Australia premieres Monday August 20 on the Seven Network.
