US TV show TODAY has come under fire for ignoring a nation-wide moment of silence for the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks — opting to air an interview with reality star Kris Jenner instead.

Other TV networks observed the annual remembrance at 8:46am — the exact time the first of two planes hit New York's World Trade Towers eleven years ago — meanwhile NBC focused on Kim Kardashian's mother talking about her latest breast enhancement and urging other middle-aged women to check that their implants aren't "past their use-by date".

A rep from NBC News has stood by their decision not to observe the moment's silence, arguing that TODAY "dedicated a considerable amount of time to September 11 coverage" before and after the interview.
