Former American news anchor Katie Couric has courted controversy on the set of her new talk show, slamming Duchess Kate for her weight loss.
According to Radar Online, Couric outed the duchess as her dream talk-show guest in an as-yet unaired segment before criticising her for being too thin.
"I think it would be really interesting to interview Kate Middleton because I think she has comported herself so well since she has been thrust in the limelight," Couric said.
"I feel like she needs to eat more because she's so thin."
Before her 2011 wedding to Prince William, Duchess Kate reportedly dropped four and a half kilograms and two dress sizes using the high-protein Dukan Diet, and it seems she's kept the weight off since then.
The criticism of the duchess' weight is sure to make the royals uncomfortable. In 1995, Princess Diana revealed she was bulimic in an explosive interview with Martin Bashir. When asked what the royal family thought of her making herself sick after eating, Diana famously replied, "They thought it was a waste of food."
It is unclear whether the controversial comments will make it to air, but with Prince Harry's Vegas romp, Prince Philip's wardrobe malfunction and now this, it's obvious the Royal family can't seem to catch a break lately.
