Reality star June "Mama" Shannon is determined to keep her convicted sex offender ex-boyfriend away from their 15-year-old daughter Jessica "Chubbs" Thomson.
Former-crim Michael Ford reached out to his estranged daughter after seeing her on the TV show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, but "Mama" insists he only wants to make contact with their daughter now that she's famous.
"He hasn't wanted to deal with Jessica for 15 years, and all of a sudden, the show comes out and he's father of the year," the mother-of-four told National Enquirer.
Ford was arrested in 2005 after he contacted an undercover police officer who was posing as a 13-year-old girl online. He posted naked pictures of himself and arranged to meet up with the minor. After serving more than two years in jail for the offence, he wants to reconnect with the daughter he hardly knows.
"I was shocked to see Jessica on television the night the show premiered, but when I tried to see her the next day, I was told, 'If you want to see your daughter, turn the television on Wednesday nights,'" Ford told the Enquirer.
In an open letter to Jessica, he wrote:
"Honey, your dad messed up, but I've done my time. Despite what you have been told, I've always tried to be with you.
"I'd like you to meet your grandparents before they pass on. If I had the money I'd fight to get visitation with you, but I don't.
"Your mom thinks I want to see you to get the money from you, but I don't want the money, I just want to spend time with my baby girl, so you can get to know me and my family. Nothing could make me happier. I love you."
All four of 33-year-old Mama's daughters were born to different fathers. Seven-year-old "Honey Boo Boo" (Alana) is the only girl whose dad, "Sugar Bear", is still on the scene.
The Thomson clan has just signed on for a second season of their farts-and-all reality show. They're rumoured to be negotiating a pay rise from $4000 per episode to $10,000.
