With less than a week to go until Home and Away returns to our screens, the long-running soap has revealed the newest heart-throb in Summer Bay.
Former McLeod's Daughters and Blue Heelers hunk Charlie Clausen will play Zac Maguire, a prison education officer who breaks up a brawl involving Casey Braxton (Lincoln Younes).
Charlie, 35, told TV WEEK magazine that Zac is "a good guy" who started working in the prison system after spending time in lock-up himself.
Zac also has history with Natalie (Catherine Mack), Casey's counsellor and the on-and-off girlfriend of his brother Brax (Steve Peacocke). Natalie asks Zac to watch Casey while he's in prison but will Zac replace Brax in the war for Natalie's affections?
"I'm very excited to join the cast of Home and Away. I found out I got the role on my birthday and I couldn't think of a better gift," Charlie said on the show's official site.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for any actor and I've been made to feel really welcome by the cast, crew and production team. I'm looking forward to 2013 and beyond."
Born in Melbourne, Charlie is one of nine siblings. His acting credentials include roles on the ABC's Head Start, the Seven Network's Big Bite, and his most well-known roles as Jake Harrison on McLeod's Daughters and Alex Kirby on Blue Heelers.
Charlie will join new H&A recruits Johnny Ruffo, Kassandra Clementi and Teri Haddy, making his debut in the show's first week back from January 21.
