Who knows how Mariah Carey's mind works. It's one of life's great mysteries. The American Idol host decided to storm the stage and sprinkle stunning singer Candice Glover with glitter after her show-stopping performance of Burt Bacharach's 'Lovesong'.
Watch the baffling (and admittedly adorable) footage for yourself above. We even have a slow-mo action replay!
Speaking with E! Online after the show, Candice shared her confusion: "I don't know why she had that! But [the glitter] was in this little box and [after the show], she gave me the box. She was like, 'This is what I carried it in, dah-ling'. I was like, 'Uh, okay'. But if Mariah Carey throws glitter at you, it must be something good!"
She's a regular Tinkerbell, that Mariah.
Judge Randy Jackson was blown away by Candice's performance, calling it "so crazy good" and "one of the greatest performances in the history, 12 years, of Idol. Mariah agreed.
Candice also admitted that Mariah was a big influence on her musically growing up.
"I remember being in sixth grade and getting in trouble in the hallway for singing Mariah Carey songs too loud. And now she's hugging me and telling me she loves me," she explained.
Of course, Mariah's own movie, Glitter was a "bomb" of its own, so maybe this glitter-bomb is kind of poetic.
