When Amy Winehouse died yesterday at the age of 27, she joined a long and tragic list of well-known musicians and celebrities who died at the same age.
Known to fans as "The 27 Club", the trend of influential musicians dying at age 27 has become so notorious, it has even become the subject of an award-winning book.
Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones and Jimi Hendrix all died at age 27 - but musician Billy Bragg was quick to point out their untimely deaths should not be romanticised.
"It's not age that Hendrix, Jones, Joplin, Morrison, Cobain and Amy have in common," he said on Twitter following the news of Amy's death.
"It's drug abuse, sadly."
