She may have played a hotel housekeeper in the 2002 blockbuster Maid In Manhattan, but it appears as though Jennifer Lopez has no empathy when it comes to real life "help".
German newspaper Bild reported that a maid who worked at luxury hotel Melia Duesseldorf was fired after asking the superstar for her autograph.
"I cleaned on her floor. And I am an incredibly big fan so I took all my courage and rang the bell to get an autograph," Pray Dodaj said of her J.Lo encounter.
"But I was rejected by two assistants at the door."
The cleaner said that despite failing to get an autograph from the singer, she was let go the very next day after team J.Lo filed a complaint to hotel management.
"A day later the cleaning company that employed me at the hotel called and said that Ms. Lopez had complained. I was fired right there on the phone! Because of an autograph!"
The hotel director released a statement about Ms. Dodaj’s sacking, saying she had "acted contrary to the contractual arrangements and disturbed the privacy of our guests."
But this story has a happy ending! Just like Jennifer's character Marisa Ventura in the movie that cemented her acting career, this out-of-work maid was quickly snapped up by another luxury hotel.
As for J.Lo, she’s currently on a European tour. Performing a Halloween gig in Dusseldorf on October 31, she seemed to be in high spirits, tweeting: "Here's my costume! #HappyHalloween! My team and I had fun celebrating in Dusseldorf and Oberhausen! #peace&love!"
Update: J.Lo has denied getting Dodaj sacked, tweeting to fans: "C'mon, thought you knew me better than this! Would never get anyone fired over an autograph."
