Miranda Kerr and her family were left rattled after receiving threats from an email hacker.

"It was something that was personal and that threatened to affect my family, so obviously I'm taking it very seriously," the model told The Daily Telegraph's Sydney Confidential.

"We have contacted her service provider and are now trawling through her account as part of our inquiry," said Detective Superintendent Col Dyson, head of the NSW Fraud and Cybercrime Squad.

"Ms Kerr gave a statement to an officer. In the interview she informed us of what she believed was a hacking incident, which is now being investigated."

The threat must have been quite serious, because Miranda also took to Twitter to express her concern.

"Just with the cyber-crime unit. Whoever hacked my account expect a knock on the door very soon," she wrote on Tuesday.

"It's just one of those unpleasant things that can make you feel quite violated," Miranda explained yesterday at an event in Bondi.

"What I don't think people know about me is that I am a very strong person. I won't go down without a fight.

"I'll take this the whole way. They're going to wish they'd never done this."

Miranda is returning to her family in LA today and has been in Australia for the past ten days to promote the David Jones Autumn/Winter 2013 campaign. Watch her strutting her stuff on the catwalk below.

The 29-year-old also took time to set those break-up rumours straight about her marriage to Orlando Bloom. Check out what she said in the interview below.
